Markets Served by IRC Products IRC is a preferred supplier of resistive products to the automotive, telecommunications, computer, instrumentation, military medical and industrial process control industries.
As the automotive industry continues to drive toward increased electronic content, smaller size, lower weight, and greater performance, IRC has answered the challenge. Our current sensing resistor solutions play a critical role in ignition control, ride control, steering, transmission, captive fasteners, airbag systems, throttle-positioning potentiometers, running lamps, and anti-lock brakes. IRC has also pioneered and implemented numerous safety and reliability enhancements into our automotive resistive products.
Demand for innovative resistor solutions is fueled by the trend towards miniaturization. Laptops, notebook computers, and hand-helds are redefining how component manufacturers serve the computer OEMs. IRC provides resistor solutions for all segments of the computer industry including disk drives and peripherals such as printers and modems. Our precision current sensing resistors provide fuel gauging for smart battery packs in laptops, motor speed control for disk drives and VRM for current monitoring in desktop systems.
If there’s a switching application calling for a special resistive product, IRC has the solution. IRC offers the industry’s only UL-listed combination resistor and thermal fuse designed specifically for telecommunications circuit board protection against both lightning and power line cross. Our advanced line feed resistors provide line card protection with Telcordia GR-1089 and UL 1459 compliance. We also produce QSOP and SOP voltage divider networks that replace up to 12 discrete components, addressing the demand for component reduction in wireless/cellular applications.
Precision IRC wirewound, high-voltage, thick film resistors, and networks have served countless tours of duty in military electronics systems. Our resistors are specified in many of today’s most advanced military applications, such as Sidewinder, Tomahawk, Apache, Cobra, Trident, Aegis, LANTIRN, Hawk, Stinger, TOW, and Harrier. IRC produces the industry’s only DESC-approved surface-mount cylindrical resistor, and our precision TaNFilm flat chips are qualified to "R" failure rate levels. IRC’s power and precision wirewound resistors have set the standard for military resistor reliability.
IRC’s high reliability and precision resistors are widely used in industrial process control and instrumentation applications. For better heat dissipation in today’s power supply designs, IRC manufactures the LRF3W, the industry’s only 3 watt chip resistor in a 1225 package and the OARS Series, a metal element open air resistor available in a standard 2512 footprint. We also offer economical SOT23 packages for AC-DC and DC-DC power supplies and instrumentation amplifiers. Our PTS-1206 platinum resistive temperature detectors exhibit excellent linear performance over changes in temperature and are used to provide temperature compensation in process control applications.
Our PFC precision chip resistors are used in ultrasound and other sensitive medical devices. IRC's LR Series current sense resistors provide fuel gauging and monitoring of battery charging packs for hand held equipment. Our high voltage resistors are used in defibrillators and other critical power devices.
